Using contemporary footage from Glinton and Beet UK, archive material from British Sugar and manufacturers promotional footage from some of the world’s biggest names, Stephen and Jonathan guide us on a journey through the development of the sugar beet harvester. From its earliest forms, through to the first self-propelled models, to the six rows, tankers and finally the enormous high tech twelve row machines of today. We look at machines from Standen, GBW, Catchpole, Ransomes, Moreau , Matrot, Riecam, Verveat and Agrifac, and along with an overview of the beet harvest, evolution of the trailer, an insight into the sugar industry and working machines by the dozen, follow the story right up to the latest monsters of the 21st century.
