At their peak the International Harvester Company was reputed to be the largest and most influential farm equipment manufacturer of the 20th century. These promotional and information films make up number six in a series of DVD programmes featuring agricultural machinery manufactured by International Harvester – a reminder of their heyday in which all things seemed possible.
The first film highlights the new features on the whole ‘Hi-Performance’ series of IH tractors including all the 84 models, the 955 and 1055 as well as the top of the range 1246 tractor.
See also the amazing reconstruction of the story of Cyrus McCormick and his incredible mechanical reaper that changed agriculture forever. Plus another six informative films which include the 425/435/445 balers, potato planters and harvesters from the 1930s, McCormick W4/W6/WD6 tractors and detailed information on the Diesel Fuel System – so there should be something for everyone here.
Certainly International Harvester was a force to be reckoned with in the middle part of the 20th century and these old movies go a long way to capturing a flavour of that success.
