This programme follows through a year on a Lincolnshire smallholding where Mick and Jonathan Putterill are avid fans of blue Ford and Fordson tractors and have amassed a large collection over the years. But these machines are not idle showpieces, they have to earn their keep on the farm and are used with a fascinating array of period implements.
Following the seasons we see the various Fordson tractors at work including Dexta, Super Dexta and Diesel Major as well as New Performance Super Dexta and Super Major while the Ford 6X range is represented by a 3000 and 4000.
Newer machines include a 5600, 4600 and a 6600. We also see how some jobs are done on the farm by contractors such as spraying and combining, the new machinery contrasting markedly with the Putterill’s own collection.
