Filmed at open-cast coalmines in America, this DVD shows some of the largest machines of their kind.
At the Belle Ayr mine in Wyoming, The P&H 4100XPB electric shovel is shown loading a Caterpillar 797B haul truck, which it dwarfs, even though these are the largest mechanically driven trucks in the world. Among other impressive equipment shown is the world’s biggest motor grader, the Cat 24-H.
By contrast, Beener Coal in Maryland uses diesel technology: the Bucyrus-Erie 295B is the world’s biggest diesel-powered rope shovel, and is shown working alongside the Komatsu D575A bulldozer – also the world’s largest.
