North Of The Border is a DVD series that has taken seven years of work to produce. Filmed by Andrew Dalziel, predominantly in Aberdeenshire in the North East and in Dumfriesshire in the west of Scotland, the mixture of arable and stock farming gives a fascinating and truly eye opening window into agriculture in this part of the world. Focusing on several different farms and contractors in these two areas, plus many other items of machinery seen at work, these DVDs are a must for any enthusiast of both classic and modern farm machinery.
In Part 2 – Into The Grass – Andrew brings us through May to June, and it is the harvesting of grass for silage that comes to the fore. With round bales, trailed choppers and monster self-propelled foragers we get to see some brilliant kit in action. But, its not all grass, as we also see plenty of ploughing, and even potato planting, as well as re-seeding of grassland.
Highlights include: Scotgrass 2019, the Scottish County Tractor Owners Club’s silage working, the BA Stores Working Weekend, John Deere 2130, 2650 and 3350, Ford 6410 and 8630, Lamborghini Premium 1060 and Case IH 956XL plus lots of modern machinery from all the leading manufacturers. It’s all go when it comes time to get chopping grass
