This programme is compiled exclusively from 8mm and 16mm film taken by Wynn’s staff during the 1940s, ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. John Wynn had been searching for these ‘lost’ films for around 25 years and they were eventually located by his son Peter in 2006.
This programme begins with a couple of Guy Invincible 8 wheelers and a Bedford 6 wheeled ‘S’ Type delivering storage tanks to Grangemouth Gas Works, Cardiff. The sections were 17ft 7ins in diameter by 11ft 11 ins high and needed to be offloaded and slid under a 12ft 8ins high bridge and then reloaded.
Scammell ‘Junior’ Contractors are shown delivering four 40 tons heat exchangers to Cardiff Docks, they are also shown moving 120ft concrete beams from Costains, Bridgend to Glyn Neath for use in the construction of the Heads of the Valley road.
Two Scammell ‘Medium’ Contractors are used to move a 200 tons transformer with trailer ‘789’ fitted with Mk I Air Cushion Equipment.
Pacific ‘Helpmate’ and trailer ‘555’ moving a 200 tons stator for Rogerstone Power Station.
Three Scammell Contractors and trailer ‘1001’ fitted with Mk11 Air Cushion Equipment are seen moving a 185 tons transformer from Penzance to Indian Queens. Many more moves and a great variety of motive power units complete this programme.
