DVDPAL
This programme is compiled exclusively from 8mm and 16mm film taken by Wynns staff during the 1940s, `50s, `60s and ’70s.
The programme starts in the 1940s with Foden Drawbar tractor “112” coupled to a Fairfields riveted well-trailer, on solid tyres, moving a large casting down through very narrow streets somewhere in South Wales. Scammell Contractor “191” assists two Caterpillar “D7s” to winch a large barge up the beach at Dungeness before moving it some 10 miles inland. The barge was about 18 feet wide, 70 feet long and weighed around 45 tons. Trailer “999” was rolled-out from Cranes of Dereham on 21st March 1966, Pacific “Helpmate” is shown taking “999” to a nearby disused airfield for testing. “999” and “Helpmate” are shown coming off the CEGB Ro/Ro vessell “Aberthaw Fisher”. “999” was then fitted with Air Cusion Equipment.
Pacifics “Valiant and “Enterprise” are seen coupled together crossing George Street Bridge, Newport. Four moves from Thurso Station to Dounreay Nuclear Power Station are shown, one of the moves involves three Diamond Ts and a Head/Wrightson Road/Rail Transporter.
When this programme was made no photographs or information about this move were known to exist. Many more moves are also shown.
