This programme is the first in the series to feature Wynns overseas operations in Cyprus, Nigeria, Tanzania,Kenya, Ghana and Sudan.
Pacific ‘Helpmate’ was shipped to Cyprus and was used to move oil refinery heavy equipment from Famagusta docks to the refinery site near Larnaca. Two 150 ton Scammell Contractors were sent to Nigeria with a newly designed and built Road/Rail Transporter for the movement of four main generators From Apapa Port, Lagos, to the Kainji Dam.
In Ghana Taysec, the Ghana operation of Taylor Woodrow, supplied Wynns with two Scammell Crusaders and a most unusual Nicholas 6-row trailer for the transportation of 45 ton kiln sections.
In Kenya Wynns were contracted to move two 75 ton transformers 400 miles from Mombasa to Gtara. The Sudanese contract involved moving over 3000 tons of assorted heavy equipment over 1400 miles from Port Sudan to Rabak using a variety of motive power and trailers.
Wynns worked with Mammoet, Holland to move over 3000 tons of equipment from Dar-es Salaam to the Kariba Dam in southern Zambia, a distance of over 1500 miles.
