In the end though they are built to perform a task and it is this which is the focus of this programme as we take a tour of Britain to find machines from all the major manufacturers out at work in the fields.

Three years of filming results in a fascinating look at tractors at work today as we look at the machines used by a large dairy farming enterprise, various contractors fleets, machines on various farms and also demonstration units being put through their paces, plus a look at one of the most popular tractor models of recent years; the John Deere 7530.

Tractors from Case IH, John Deere, New Holland, McCormick, Valtra, Challenger, Deutz Fahr, Massey Ferguson, Fendt and JCB are all featured as we continue the story of the modern tractor.
