This beautifully produced book is profusely illustrated with over 170 black and white photographs and Victorian engravings. Alan McEwen has spent over 30 years researching and gathering material and from this has chronicled 23 highly dramatic and informative stories of the terrifying and devastating boiler explosions, that clamied the lives of hundreds people whilst destroying the neighbouring buildings, in Cotton Mills, Bleachworks, Colleries, Ironworks and other industires of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Also includes Traction Engine, Railway Locomotive and Marie Boiler explosions. The book also gives basic hisotries of early industrial boilers.
